Most roofs will require replacement at about the twenty-to-twenty-five year mark. This will be evedient when materials begin to fail. If you’re not sure of your roof’s age, there are a few signs it’s time to consider replacing it. For example, leaks, curled shingles, missing shingles, internal water damage, dents and bald spots are all excellent indicators. If you have a new roof and are experiencing these problems, call the company who installed the roof to find answers.
Unfortunately, there is no one answer to this question. The most common options we have for new roofs include asphalt, shingles and metal. Each type of roofing material has it’s own set of pros and cons. If you’re looking for the most affordable option, shingles may be the right choice for you. If you’re looking for something modern and unique, a metal roof may be better.
It depends on why your roof is leaking in first place. Older roofs with a number of worn spots and missing shingles will likely need to be replaced. If you have a leak from a single missing shingle or from a chimney, repair work may work just fine. We will be pleased to determine how much damage has been caused by the leak and then make proper recommendations.

This is a very good question, but it’s the equivalent of asking how much a vehicle costs. The variables involved are endless. Metal roofs, asphalt shingles, colors, styles, textures designs, slats and many other factors weigh into this calculation. We are pleased to offer estimates for potential clients. With no obligation, we will visit your home and provide an estimate for your roof and desired materials.
Approximately five years after a roof installation, roofs can begin to show signs of dark streaks. These streaks usually appear on the north-facing slope of the roof and are frequently mistaken for dirt or granule loss. These streaks are caused by algae growth that is prominent in areas of the roof that receive less sunlight.
Moisture & Algae
Roof slopes that are shaded or receive infrequent sunlight will hold moisture for a longer period of time, which can result in algae growth. The discoloration or streaking is an aesthetic concern and does not affect the life of the root system or its waterproofing characteristics.
As a temporary solution zinc strips can be added to a ridge of a roof to prevent algae from forming. Various solutions can be used to remove algae growth, although it may grow back.
Use Caution When Cleaning
Use caution when using extreme care when attempting to remove discoloration as many harsh treatments or power washing can harm your roof system and result in granule loss.
